CITY & GUILDS COURSES GUIDE
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
Attendance to every session is not mandatory but recommended, you will only pay for the sessions you attend. Just like any educational course, you will need to complete some course work outside of the classroom sessions.
COMPLETION
City & Guilds give a maximum amount of time to complete each qualification. This is specified in the information for each qualification. This starts from the date of your registration with City & Guilds.
ENROLLMENT
To enrol on a city and guilds course we will have a discussion about what it is you want to learn from the course and what level to start you on. You can start at whichever level is appropriate to the skills and knowledge you already have.
Enrol anytime: No waiting for term dates.
CLASSES
Classes take place every other Saturday, depending on which qualifications you choose. If there are more students, more available dates will be added. The classes will be small classes, with a maximum of 6 people.
CLASS TUITUION HOURS
For each qualification, City and Guilds provide an estimate for the learning hours required to complete the qualification. This is only an estimate, you may complete the qualification in less time or it may take you longer.
PAY-AS-YOU-GO CLASSES
Class tuition is £20 per hour, this covers your guided learning hours for the course, the costs of some course materials, use of tools and machines, assessment, internal verification and external verification.
You only pay for the classes on the day you attend. Making learning convenient and affordable. Whilst attendance to every class is not mandatory, it is recommended.
INITIAL INTERVIEW
To ensure that we decide on the best course for you, we will complete an initial assessment before enrolment to identify:

If you have any specific training needs.

Any extra support and guidance you may need when working towards your qualifications.

Any units you have already completed or credit you have accumulated which is relevant to the qualification.

LEVEL 1 - BEGINNER
Get ready to ignite your passion for crafting! Embark on an exciting journey of design and skill development.
Suitable for an absolute beginner. This course lays the foundations for your journey into dressmaking. You will master all the basics, starting with getting to know sewing machine, understanding sewing patterns, fundamental techniques and getting to know different fabric types.

Level 2 Certificate in Design and Craft - Pattern Cutting

SKILL LEVEL
LEVEL 2 - INTERMEDIATE
You'll learn how to transform your ideas into tangible creations, exploring design principles and developing your own unique style.
You will learn how to create a set of made to measure blocks which can then be adapted to your own designs. You will delve deep into the techniques and processes involved in creating a sewing pattern. You'll gain hands-on experience, master essential skills, and create stunning pieces that showcase your talent.

Level 3 Certificate in Design and Craft - Fashionwear

SKILL LEVEL
LEVEL 3 - ADVANCED
Through this course you will master a diverse range of skills including, pattern
cutting, embellishments and couture techniques. By the end of the course you will have a range of samples and a collection of beautiful garments.
